Welcome to our small-scale nature campsite and glamping in Central Portugal.

Vale Sereno is an eco-friendly spot in the green valley of Penalva do Castelo, in the Viseu region. You will stay among fruit trees, in the olive grove, or overlooking our vineyard — with the babbling river in the background. In addition to our camping pitches, we also offer comfortable glamping tents, fully furnished with their own inventory, a lovely bed, and everything you need for a relaxing stay in nature. Perfect for those who love being outdoors but appreciate a little extra comfort. Our campsite is small-scale and offers various facilities, making Vale Sereno suitable for couples, families, and remote workers. There is a swimming pool and a river for cooling off on warm days. You will get a spacious pitch with a view of nature — perfect for those choosing sustainable camping or glamping in Portugal. The surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities for hiking, cycling, golfing, or padel. Soak up the atmosphere of the village of Penalva do Castelo or discover the historic city of Viseu.

Our campsite and the accommodations

In addition to our camping pitches for campers, vans, and tents (max. 7,5 meters), we also offer various accommodations:

All our guests are welcome to use the shared swimming pool and the covered terrace — a space designed for relaxation and spending time together. Here you can read, play games or simply enjoy the view over the valley.

Our campsite features a large playground with a ping‑pong table, slide, swing, climbing frame, sandpit and hammocks. There is also a football field, space for badminton and many other activities for all ages.

The property is filled with fruit trees that produce different fruits throughout the year. Depending on the season, you can enjoy fresh figs, plums, apples and pears.

Area information

In the morning, you can order a fresh coffee with a Pastel de Nata, the quintessential Portuguese delicacy, at the local bakery in our village of Penalva do Castelo. Just 5 minutes from the campsite, you will find an Intermarché for all your groceries. There are several restaurants in the village, so there is plenty of choice nearby.

Various walking routes through the vineyards and olive groves start from the campsite, offering views of the Dão and Coja rivers. You can follow the same routes by bike or take a beautiful loop around the reservoir – highly recommended for enthusiasts.

Portugal is known for its river beaches. You will also find idyllic spots to swim and relax in our area.

Viseu is the nearest historic city. Here, you can enjoy sitting on a terrace near the Cathedral. But the city parks also offer entertainment for young and old!
